The Queen (mark this one)

Why would Dr.Alexandre Sevigny post a link to Perez Hilton's YouTube channel?
It's safe to say everyone has heard of Perez Hilton. He's everywhere. On the Internet(YouTube/Facebook/Twitter), TV, movies, radio, in magazines, newspapers and more. If it weren't for new media -like the Internet- a lot of the world would not know of Perez and what he does. He's known for his gritty gossip blogs.

YouTube, along with many other sources like Google, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and Blogger have become colossal portals for sending and receiving information through the Internet and across the world. Available with a click of a button, you can connect to an old friend from school or type a question and receive thousands of answers, from people all over the world. YouTube is a unique tool that allows users to upload their own videos (film, Vlogs, fan-made music videos), and they can also watch others and subscribe to a certain users “Channel” to get video updates. For the older generations this means nothing, but for the younger people in society it means everything.

Perez Hilton is one of the many people who’ve used the Internet to communicate with the world. He uses it in a unique way. At the beginning Perez did Vlogs, which are video blogs. Within them he highlighted things going on in his own life as well as the happenings of celebrities. More recently his videos are promoting up and coming artists. Most of his time is spent updating his website http://www.perezhilton.com/ where he has gossip stories cropping up every few hours. Perez’s YouTube channel has given him the face time he needed to connect with people and communicate his thoughts. Not only was Perez’s latest video

the intro to Britney Spears’s Circus tour & seen in concert stadiums worldwide, but YouTube’s global network has allowed Perez to share his moment and promote Britney to anyone who has access to the Internet. It allows them to fill the gap that separates people; this is known as Space Binding media (because it collapses space. Space has been destroyed as a variable if you call someone from China and they are in America.) As Dr. Sevigny noted in Lecture, Harold Innius’s Theory of Media in which he discusses Time-binding, and Space-binding media. An example of Time-binding media: manuscript because it has limited distribution potential.

As the world advances with technology many more variables will come into play in classifying what certain media communication becomes. For now, I shall leave you with one of the talented rising artists I spoke of earlier. I never heard of this woman/band and most likely never would have but with the help of Perez Hilton’s YouTube channel I can help support this new find. Dr. Sevigny choose Perez's channel because it proved to be effective in many modes of communication.
